At the 62nd Daytona 500, Denny Hamlin took home the win, making it his third Daytona 500 win. Hamlin became the first driver since Sterling Marlin to win back-to-back Daytona 500s. President Trump served as Grand Marshal, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. waved the green flag to officially start the race. After two rain delays, the race was postponed until the following day. Most of the race ran cleanly until the 185th lap. The Big One came that triggered a massive 20 car accident. On the final lap, Ryan Newman was involved in a very serious crash and was rushed to the hospital. He was released from the hospital the following Wednesday.
