2019 Daytona 500 - Full Race
No. 11 driver Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing won the 61st running of the Daytona 500. This was Hamlin's second Daytona 500 victory, the first coming in 2016. Teammates Kyle Busch got 2nd place and Erik Jones got 3rd, giving Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing the top 3 spots for this Daytona 500. With just 10 laps to go there was a massive 19 car 'big one' crash that happened from Paul Menard clipping Matt DiBenedetto and turning them both sideways, taking out another 17 cars along with them.
2019 Daytona 500 - Highlights
The 61st Daytona 500 got underway with Kyle Busch taking Stage 1 and Ryan Blaney taking Stage 2. The race was relatively crash free until Stage 3 when Cody Ware, B.J. McLeod and Tyler Reddick collided, damaging Jimmie Johnson's car as well. The race went back underway until 20 laps to go when Kyle Larsen hit the wall and spun out of control. Another caution came from a Keselowski crash. All this was small compared to the massive 21 car 'Big One' pile up that cut the remaining field to just 19 cars with 10 laps to go. Yet another wreck involving 5 cars brought a caution; Denny Hamlin capitalized with position and won his 2nd Daytona 500.
