2006 Daytona 500 - Highlights
The 2006 Daytona 500 saw a crackdown on aggressive driving tactics. Tony Stewart lead after 28 laps until Stewart and Jeff Gordon collided and dropped way back in the pack. Weather got bad and drivers had to adjust. A multi-car pileup involving Kyle Petty, J.J. Yeley, Dale Jarrett, Jeff Green and Joe Nemechek occurred on lap 80. Tony Stewart tangled with Matt Kenseth on lap 106, sending Kenseth into the wall and earning Stewart a penalty. On lap 197 Jamie McMurray's wreck brought a green/white checkered finish and a 2 lap sprint for the win. Jimmie Johnson came in 1st, Casey Mears 2nd.
