2002 Indianapolis 500 - Full Race
The 86th Indianapolis 500 was won by Brazilian IndyCar driver Hélio Castroneves of Team Penske. It was Castroneves' second consecutive Indianapolis 500 victory. Rookie driver Tomas Scheckter led the race for 85 laps and had command of the race, but crashed with only 27 laps to go. Castroneves took advantage of Scheckter's misfortunes and took the lead, but not without a major controversy over a caution flag that delayed the official results for a record five hours and forty minutes. Canadian IndyCar driver Paul Tracy came in second.
